Job Description
Description Wilson College is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and student-centered Part-Time Assistant Coach to support all aspects of our NCAA Division III softball program. Reporting to the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach will help foster a competitive and positive team environment while ensuring compliance with NCAA, United East Conference, and College policies and regulations. The successful candidate will be passionate about softball, committed to mentoring student-athletes, and dedicated to supporting their academic, athletic, and personal development. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the student-athlete experience while contributing to a team culture that reflects the mission and values of Wilson College. Primary Responsibilities Coaching Attend and assist with practices, competitions, team meetings, recruiting events, community service activities, and fundraising events. Assist with the recruitment of prospective student-athletes. Help organize and implement effective practice and training sessions to support student-athlete skill development. Assist with game preparation, scouting, and strategy implementation. Provide instruction in sport-specific skills and areas of expertise. Maintain current knowledge of softball rules and NCAA regulations. Serve as a positive role model and reinforce departmental expectations regarding sportsmanship, conduct, and academic success. Administration Support the administration and operation of the softball program with the highest level of integrity and professionalism. Participate in conference calls, meetings, committees, and other department-related activities as assigned. Complete administrative tasks and requests for information in a timely manner. Additional Duties Serve as a game administrator and supervise student game staff for out-of-season athletic events as needed. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Athletics Department. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, collegiate playing experience, and/or coaching experience. Playing and/or coaching experience in softball, preferably at the collegiate level. Valid driver's license. Ability to obtain and maintain required state and federal background clearances. Preferred Previous coaching experience at the collegiate level. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
