Aug 17, 2026 Job Description The New Hope-Solebury School District is looking for a High School Coed Varsity Cross Country Head Coach responsible for the leadership, organization, and development of the High School Cross Country program. This position supports the District's mission by promoting academic achievement, athletic excellence, sportsmanship, and the personal growth of student-athletes in a coeducational environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead the planning, organization, and supervision of the Coed Varsity Cross Country program in accordance with District policies and PIAA regulations. Coach and supervise student-athletes in distance running techniques, including pacing, aerobic conditioning, strength training, and injury prevention. Design and implement comprehensive training plans tailored to varying ability levels for both male and female athletes. Instruct student-athletes in race strategies, course navigation, and mental preparation appropriate for high school competition. Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to support individual progress and team scoring goals throughout the season. Promote and model appropriate conduct, sportsmanship, and respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and the school community. Support the academic success and overall well-being of student-athletes in alignment with District expectations. Collaborate with Middle School coaching staff to ensure a cohesive developmental pipeline and consistent training philosophies. Oversee all aspects of meet preparation, including roster management, event entries, course scouting, and athlete supervision at away competitions. Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of timing equipment, uniforms, and training facilities. Communicate effectively and professionally with student-athletes, parents/guardians, administrators, and athletic department staff. Ensure compliance with District policies, PIAA regulations, and league rules, including eligibility and safety protocols for off-campus training runs. Uphold and enforce District codes of conduct, team rules, and expectations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Qualifications Prior coaching and/or competitive experience in Cross Country or Track and Field is preferred. Strong knowledge of distance running mechanics, training physiological principles, and safety practices for outdoor training. Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of student-athletes in a coed educational environment. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators and school staff. Completion of all required District, PIAA, and state-mandated clearances and coaching certifications.
