Job Description
Urban Youth Kings & Queens (UYKQ) mission is to educate and empower Philadelphia's children and adolescents through wellness, sports, and after-school programs to recognize their talents, pursue college, and become leaders in their communities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Urban Youth Kings & Queens is looking for reliable, responsible, enthusiastic, basketball instructor/coach to provide an enjoyable and safe sporting experience for an assigned group of youngsters while they learn individual and team skills. If you believe that participation in sports plays an integral role in the development of a child's character, confidence, and social skills this could be an excellent opportunity for you. This is the perfect opportunity for basketball coaches, Current/Former Players at the Collegiate or Professional Level or for anyone who would like to impact the lives of children and has some knowledge of the sport. The Program will operate after school hours between 3pm and 5pm (weekdays will vary between Monday- Thursday).
Specific duties include:
Setup and breakdown of necessary equipment and play space Ensure all necessary materials and equipment needed is available and safe for use Work collaboratively with other coaches, instructors and volunteers Collaborate with family members to ensure any questions or concerns are addressed Communicate effectively with Manager on a weekly basis Provide coaching and instruction to youth participants Lead special instructions, skills and drills, and group activities when necessary Teach various skills and techniques to assist players with instruction and drills Oversee participants while engaged in instruction Other duties as assignedREQUIREMENTS
:- Experience working with young children
- Classroom Management (must)
- Reliable transportation to and from location
- Current clean background check or ability to obtain one (Child Abuse / FBI Fingerprints)
