Description Freeport Club Lacrosse seeks qualified candidates for the position of High School Boys Lacrosse Head Coach. The Head Coach will lead the high school lacrosse program and be responsible for developing players' fundamental skills, lacrosse knowledge, teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment to the program. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of lacrosse coaching techniques and applicable WPIAL, PIAA, league, and USA Lacrosse rules and regulations. Candidates should be able to develop athletes at varying experience levels, teach effective strategies, establish a positive team culture, and represent Freeport Club Lacrosse professionally within the community. Prior high school, collegiate, or competitive club coaching experience is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, organizational, and administrative skills and a commitment to providing a safe, positive, and development-focused experience for student-athletes. Key Responsibilities Provide overall leadership and direction for the Freeport high school boys lacrosse program. Plan, organize, and lead effective practices, conditioning sessions, team meetings, games, and other program activities. Teach lacrosse fundamentals, positional skills, team concepts, game strategy, and situational decision-making. Evaluate players and make fair, objective decisions regarding team placement, positions, playing roles, and leadership responsibilities. Recruit, recommend, and oversee qualified assistant coaches, subject to approval by the Freeport Club Lacrosse Board. Establish clear expectations for player attendance, effort, conduct, academic responsibility, sportsmanship, and team participation. Promote a positive team culture centered on accountability, respect, teamwork, discipline, and player development. Teach, demonstrate, and enforce safe playing, conditioning, stretching, lifting, and injury-prevention techniques. Follow all applicable WPIAL, PIAA, league, USA Lacrosse, facility, and Freeport Club Lacrosse rules, policies, and procedures. Maintain current knowledge of lacrosse rules, coaching methods, player-safety standards, and sport-specific best practices. Communicate schedules, expectations, program updates, and player-development information clearly and consistently to athletes and parents. Address behavioral, attendance, performance, and team-related concerns promptly and appropriately with players, parents, assistant coaches, and the Club Board. Communicate professionally with athletes, parents, coaches, officials, opponents, school representatives, and community partners. Coordinate with the Club Board regarding scheduling, field access, officials, equipment, uniforms, transportation, budgeting, fundraising, and other administrative needs. Work collaboratively with the Freeport youth lacrosse program to support player development and create continuity between youth and high school teams. Assist with player recruitment, retention, offseason development opportunities, camps, clinics, and other activities that strengthen the program. Maintain accurate rosters, attendance records, equipment records, eligibility documentation, and other required program information. Ensure that equipment and facilities are used safely, properly maintained, and secured after practices and games. Represent Freeport Club Lacrosse in a professional manner and promote good sportsmanship at all times. Preferred Qualifications Previous lacrosse coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, competitive club, or advanced youth level. Prior lacrosse playing experience. Demonstrated knowledge of lacrosse fundamentals, team strategy, practice planning, conditioning, and player development. Familiarity with applicable WPIAL and PIAA rules and regulations. USA Lacrosse coach certification or willingness to complete applicable certification. Experience hiring, supervising, or coordinating assistant coaches. Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, administrative, and organizational skills. Ability to develop athletes with different skill levels and experience. Ability to work constructively with student-athletes, parents, volunteers, officials, and program leadership. Commitment to sportsmanship, character development, player safety, and the overall growth of the Freeport lacrosse program. Required Clearances and Training The selected candidate must obtain and maintain all clearances and training required by Pennsylvania law and Freeport Club Lacrosse, which may include: Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance FBI Criminal Background Check, when applicable Required mandated-reporter training Concussion and sudden cardiac arrest awareness training CPR, AED, and first-aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification Any additional certifications required by the league, WPIAL, PIAA, USA Lacrosse, or Freeport Club Lacrosse Schedule This is a seasonal position requiring a flexible schedule. The Head Coach must be available for afternoon and evening practices, games, weekend competitions, preseason preparation, postseason activities, and reasonable offseason program-development responsibilities. Compensation This is a stipend position. Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, responsibilities, and the approved program budget.
