Job Description

York Academy is looking for Volleyball Coach Varsity-JV-Jr High for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Season runs from early August through late October (Monday - Thursday 3:45 - 6:00 PM). We are looking for individuals responsible for coaching, character development and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in their selected sport. The position requires thoughtful and respectful interaction with student athletes, fellow coaches, staff, parents and community, and adhering to the mission, vision and values of York Academy Regional Charter School. Positive communication strategies, organizational skills, and safety awareness are key requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clearly and consistently articulates a shared commitment to the IB's mission and philosophy. Demonstrate an awareness of the IB learner profile and commitment to international-mindedness. Plan, organize, and direct a designated York Academy sports program. Instruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team development. Ensure that team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of the athletes are clearly communicated and followed. Develop and coordinate a game schedule with the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) or other sports clubs/entities, as necessary. Partner with school leadership to communicate and distribute schedules to students, staff and the community. Plan, organize, advertise, and conduct tryouts for the sports program; inform Upper School leadership and participants of final selections. Maintain the integrity of the selection process. Recruit, coordinate and manage coaches, as needed, at all defined student levels. Develop and coordinate any off-season training programs including scheduling dates for summer camps/practices, uniform fitting, pre-post tryout informational parent meetings. Attend informational parent meetings at the beginning of each season for all levels. Create a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Work directly with school health services and other entities in reporting injuries, teaching precautions and procedures to ensure staff/student safety and help students prevent injuries. Model good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards opposing team, fans, parents, officials, spectators and community. Actively support student opportunities to develop, act and reflect on learning outcomes for service. Regularly engage in reflection and demonstrate a commitment to life-long learning and growth.
