FUNCTION
The Coach helps each participating student achieve a high level of skill and an increased appreciation for the values of discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic performance. The Coach is dedicated to developing a successful team and the individual student athlete, considering not only win/lose records but specifically focusing on achieving personal growth through athletic participation and competition.
REPORTS TO
Athletic Director, and Principal
ANTICIPATED DUTIES
1.Coaches individual participants, small groups and teams, as appropriate, in the skills necessary for a successful experience. 2.Supervises individual team members and teams at all times. 3.Knows and implements most current rules, regulations and policies. These includes, but are not limited to: specific sports rules; RI Interscholastic League Regulations; general policies of and procedures of the district including those relating to student's academic, career, and personal social development. 4.Works with school officials to monitor the academic performance of the student athletes and stress the importance of high academic performance as well as the important leadership role that our student athletes have in the school. 5.Consistently functions as a role model for team members by demonstrating a respect for officials, competitors, visitors and observers while under stressful situations. 6.Works closely with the athletic director and other coaches scheduling practices and games. 7.Informs the athletic director of the condition of the facility, equipment and uniforms. 8.Communicates frequently with the athletic director concerning team members, team issues and all team related activities. 9.Notifies the Athletic Director of any actions, equipment or conditions that could possibly compromise the safety of students and adults. 10. Delegates coaching responsibilities to assistant and volunteer coaches. 11.All other duties as defined by the athletic director and principal. Candidates not previously employed by Foster-Glocester schools must complete or have a current BCI check completed with no disqualifying remarks to be appointed to any position.
