Part-Time/Seasonal Job Summary:
The Game Day Varsity Cheer Coach is responsible for developing a successful cheerleading program that promotes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit. The coach will create a positive and supportive environment while ensuring the safety and well-being of all cheerleaders. The role includes planning practices, coordinating events, and mentoring student-athletes to help them achieve both their athletic and academic goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement practice plans to enhance cheerleaders' skills, performance, and teamwork. Encourage and support student-athletes in maintaining positive academic standing and personal character development. Treat all team members with fairness and respect, fostering an inclusive and supportive team environment. Prioritize the safety of all cheerleaders by ensuring appropriate supervision, providing first aid when necessary, and keeping an updated emergency contact list readily available. Organize and oversee training schedules, securing proper training facilities and equipment. Coordinate logistics for team events, including travel arrangements, performances, and competitions. Maintain clear communication with cheerleaders, parents, school administration, and the athletic department. Uphold school policies, cheerleading regulations, and sportsmanship expectations. Serve as a role model by demonstrating leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to the values of the athletic program.
Qualifications:
Prior coaching experience in cheerleading or a related sport preferred. Strong knowledge of cheer techniques, stunts, and safety guidelines. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes. Must pass a background check and adhere to school policies.
Work Schedule and Expectations:
Practices held after school, evenings, and/or weekends as needed. Attendance at all games, competitions, and school spirit events. Participation in staff meetings, professional development, and program planning sessions. This position plays a crucial role in fostering school spirit and promoting a positive and safe cheerleading experience. The Game Day Varsity Cheer Coach should be dedicated to guiding student-athletes to success both on and off the field.
