Job Description

Job Title Assistant Coach 1 - Women's Softball Department Athletic Director Salary Commensurate with experience Job Summary/Basic Function Assist the Head women's softball coach organize and administer all aspects of our NCAA Division I women's softball program. Essential duties include but are not limited to: overall team pitching and catching instruction, day to day coaching of student athletes; individual skill instruction; recruiting NCAA Division I academically sound and competitive student athletes; scheduling to enhance
NCAA/ C-USA
championship opportunities; organizing and arranging team travel plans; oversee and promote compliance of NCAA rules among staff, student athletes and representatives of athletic interest; serve as a positive role model for the student athletes; and assist head coach with the budget of assigned funds. Assume duties of the on the field assistant coach for all pitching and catching instruction and other duties as assigned by the head coach; scouting of opponents hitting patterns; on and off campus recruiting and assist with game preparations and player improvements. Work to enhance the image of the university and promote positive community relations. Assist with team scouting of opponents; suggest game attendance promotions; participation in organization of summer camps and clinics; organize and direct on campus fall tournaments, know and follow NCAA rules and regulations, serve as a liaison to the compliance office, turn all required paperwork into the compliance office in a professional and timely manner, educate student athletes, parents and representatives of athletic interest regarding NCAA rules, turn any know violation into the compliance office immediately; and perform other related tasks or special projects as assigned by the Head coach or Director of Athletics . Required Education Bachelor's degree required. A high school diploma with four (4) years of College, High School National Team or Professional coaching and/or Collegiate or professional competition or playing experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree Master's degree in an educational a related field preferred. Required Related Experience Two (2) years experience as a collegiate or professional player and/or coach at the high school, junior college, four year college, national team or professional level required. Desirable Related Experience Four (4) years Collegiate and or professional playing and / or coaching experience preferred.
