Job Description

Schedules, implements, and attends all preseason, in-season, and post-season practices and contests. Prepares athletes for competition and performs post-season evaluations. Ensures the safety and wellness of players and works collaboratively with the Athletic Training staff. Oversees strength, conditioning, and nutritional support for Women's Basketball. Supervises and coordinates the work of assistant coach and student assistants. Monitors and actively encourage student athletes to succeed academically and represent the university with leadership and integrity, both on and off the court. Schedules all team contests; coordinates special events and relevant camps. Responsible for all travel arrangements in conjunction with the assistant coach as well as all reconciliation of budget reports and credit card usage reconciliation after travel and or purchasing of gear and/or equipment. Provides financial accountability for all UT Southern Women's Basketball functions hosted by the coach/team/department. Manages and fully participates in the fundraising efforts needed to sustain a working budget. Works in conjunction with the other court sports with scheduling of the floor, setting up and breaking down the court for games and any other duties assigned in the management of the athletic venue. Game day management of other sports is possible, or any other duties as assigned. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status. Considerable basketball knowledge of fitness concepts and techniques. Working knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations. Ability in high level recruiting techniques, knowledge of high school coaches and athletes, and student-athlete concerns. Effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Strong computer skills in a Windows-based environment (
Microsoft:
Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), including at least intermediate level word processing and spreadsheet development. Ability to work with diverse populations, as part of a team, and collaborate with others. Demonstrated ability to work independently, to maintain confidentiality, and to supervise others. Knowledge of a public university setting and the NAIA. Ability to work with the men's basketball coach to ensure a smooth working environment.
Required:
Minimum of 4 years coaching at the college/university level, including NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Bachelor's degree
CPR and AED Certification Preferred:
Preferred experience as a head coach in women's basketball Master's Degree
