SUMMARY/SCOPE
Serves as Event Support Technician. Responsible for the set-up and successful execution of campus activities and/or events for the university (30 Hours Per Week) This is a split position with Athletics
  • Men's Basketball (10 Hours per week).
HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
University Events Assists with the daily management of campus facilities. Arranges and oversees facilities set-up for faculty, staff, students, and constituents for various campus events. Works under the direct supervision of the Manager of Event Services and other Event Support Technicians as a team to complete all necessary tasks in a timely manner. Assists in the supervision and training of several student workers. Ensures student workers are assigned specific daily tasks and responsibilities. Follows-up on assigned tasks for quality control. Completes simple maintenance of equipment used for University Events, including but not limited to chairs, tables, dollies, tool upkeep, seasonal displays and materials. Responsible for set-up, tear down, and successful execution of HSU athletic events on days, nights, and weekends, depending on when the events are scheduled. Responsible for updating the Manager of Event Services with any necessary information pertaining to all operational needs and/or issues of concern. Assist in ensuring campus functions occur without any difficulties. Meets daily with the Manager of Event Services and University Events team. All HSU employees are expected to adhere to the HSU Personnel Handbook and Safety Handbook in following all campus policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned by Manager of Event Services or Director of University Events.

Athletics (Split Position)
  • Men's Basketball Recruiting Year-round player evaluations
  • tournaments, game, film Phone calls to recruits with details recorded in database Foster relationships with HS and AAU coaches Personal letters, emails & texts to recruits (increase communication) Involved with campus visits and home visits Print and mail recruiting mailouts Social Media/Graphics Promote program with consistent presence on social media (twitter, Facebook, etc.
) Birthday graphics for team members Monitor player profiles Create graphics to promote camps, team events, recruiting (2-3 tweets/week) Travel Coordinator Coordinate team travel
  • hotels, buses, meals, practice times Team travel itinerary for players Handle expenditures on trips Organize receipts monthly Other Responsibilities Assist with all aspects of practice Prepare scouting reports on opponents as delegated Assist in monitoring study hall Coordinate bi-monthly academic meetings with assigned players Assist with summer camps Help committed players with admissions process Assist with equipment check-outs and returns Adhere to the code of conduct for coaches and athletes Maintain and uphold all the values of HSU and Cowboy Basketball Perform other duties as assigned

There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position, except for student workers.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, Human Resources/Payroll systems for Timecard Entry, Order Processing Software, Internet, etc.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and/or 2-3 years minimum of related experience preferred for the Events Technician Position. Since this is a split position with Men's Basketball, additional experience playing college basketball is a requirement. Experience coaching (at any level) is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a Full-time, Non-Exempt/Hourly Staff position. A regular 40-hour workweek is required plus occasional overtime as this position does require employees to be "on call" periodically for University Events. This position requires traditional work hours as well as regular weekend work and occasional evening and/or holiday scheduled work in order to meet internal and/or external deadlines along with maintenance of emergencies, etc. There is currently one opening for Event Support Technician, which is for the first shift. (1st Shift) Monday
  • Friday 8:00 A.M.
  • 2:00 P.M. (30 Hours
  • Event Technician) Must be able to work flexible shifts when required and/or other days when needed.
On-call duty is required when a response is necessary. HSU Facilities Shirts are provided and required to be worn on Game Day events. This is a split position with Men's Basketball, therefore the additional 10 hours per week will be scheduled in the afternoons/evenings with some travel on weekends with athletics. All hours worked for each position must be recorded on the correct timecard. All hours worked beyond 40 hours in a single work week will be compensated at time and a half, per FLSA guidelines. Must have and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License and maintain a clear driving record to be insurable under the university liability policy. Must be able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed. Additional travel may be required on occasion.
