Job Description

Youth Sports Coach About Us Jump Start Sports provides a fun and instructional youth sports programs at recreation centers throughout North Dallas. Our mission is to help children build confidence, learn new skills, stay active, and develop a lifelong love of sports in a positive and encouraging environment. Position Overview We are looking for energetic, dependable, and positive Youth Sports Coaches to lead recreational sports programs for children ages 4-12. Coaches may lead programs in one or more of the following sports based on their experience: Basketball Pickleball Volleyball Soccer Flag Football Tennis Golf Baseball Track & Field Cheerleading Programs are held exclusively at recreation centers throughout: Allen Frisco McKinney Plano The Colony Wylie Garland This position begins as a contract coaching opportunity. Coaches are assigned to programs as enrollment is confirmed. Qualified coaches may receive additional coaching opportunities based on performance, availability, and program needs. Responsibilities Lead fun, energetic, and organized youth sports activities for children ages 4-12. Teach basic sports skills, teamwork, confidence, and good sportsmanship in a positive environment. Encourage kids to participate, learn new skills, and enjoy being active. Coach small groups of up to 12 participants while creating a safe and engaging experience. Demonstrate skills, lead drills, and actively participate during each session. Follow provided lesson plans and coaching guidelines. Arrive approximately 15 minutes before each program to prepare equipment and get ready for participants. Communicate professionally with parents, recreation center staff, and team members. Help maintain a safe, respectful, and positive atmosphere for all players. Set up, organize, and store sports equipment before and after each program. Qualifications Experience playing at least one sport listed above; previous coaching experience is a plus but not required. Enjoy working with children ages 4-12 and helping them learn new skills. Positive attitude, patience, and the ability to encourage young athletes. Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a small group of children. Dependable, punctual, and responsible. Comfortable demonstrating sports skills, leading drills, and staying active during sessions. Reliable transportation to assigned recreation center locations. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Must successfully pass a background check before working with children. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience coaching, assisting, or leading youth sports programs is a plus. Experience working with children through sports teams, camps, schools, clubs, or community programs. High school athlete, college athlete, team captain, or someone with a strong sports background is encouraged to apply. CPR/First Aid Certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain). Ability and interest in coaching more than one sport. Strong desire to help children build confidence, learn new skills, and enjoy being active. Schedule Contract position Flexible scheduling based on program registrations. Coaches are assigned to confirmed programs. Programs are primarily scheduled during weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. Compensation $16.00-$20.00 per hour, based on coaching experience. Paid onboarding and sport-specific training provided before coaching your first program. Additional coaching opportunities available based on performance and program availability. Why Join Our Team?
