PRIMARY PURPOSE
Under the direct supervision of the Head Powerlifting Coach, the Campus Athletic Coordinator, and the general supervision of the Campus Principal, the Assistant Coach•Girls Powerlifting assists in the organization, coordination, and implementation of the girls powerlifting program. The assistant coach supports the development of student-athletes through safe training practices, skill development, discipline, sportsmanship, and academic accountability in accordance with district expectations and UIL guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Certification
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned, or district-approved coaching authorization
Special Knowledge and Skills
Working knowledge of powerlifting techniques, conditioning methods, and safety procedures
Knowledge of UIL rules and regulations governing girls powerlifting
Ability to follow district athletic policies and procedures
Ability to assist with instruction and effectively manage student behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff and campus administration
Minimum Experience
Prior coaching or participation experience in powerlifting or strength & conditioning preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instruction and Coaching Support
Assist the head coach in planning and implementing instruction in the fundamentals, techniques, rules, and conditioning of girls powerlifting
Support training sessions focused on proper lifting technique, strength development, conditioning, and injury prevention
Provide supervision and guidance to student-athletes during workouts and practices
Reinforce expectations for academic success, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship
Program Support & Management
Assist in monitoring student-athlete progress and performance during the season
Support compliance with all UIL rules, eligibility requirements, and district athletic policies
Assist with scheduling practices, meets, and transportation as directed by the head coach and athletic coordinator
Help ensure safety protocols are followed to protect student-athletes, equipment, and facilities
Student Management
Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, and travel as assigned
Apply and enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and district guidelines
Encourage and model positive sportsmanship and ethical behavior
Communication
Communicate effectively with the head coach regarding athlete progress, concerns, and program needs
Assist in maintaining appropriate communication with parents, students, and campus staff as directed
Administration
Assist in the selection, inventory, and maintenance of powerlifting equipment
Support the cleaning, storage, and organization of weight room and powerlifting equipment
Assist in compiling and maintaining required physical and electronic records
Conduct grade checks and support academic monitoring of student-athletes
Assist with planning and coordination of girls powerlifting competitions and awards
Comply with district policies, state and federal laws, and safety procedures
Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business
Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance
Perform other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None assigned (may assist in supervising student managers or aides as directed)
