Responsibilities include planning and directing the recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of student-athletes, along with fiscal management, for a NAIA and NCAA dance program. Previous collegiate head coaching experience preferred.
The candidate must:
Have a strong focus on student-athlete academic success. Insist on exemplary student-athlete behaviors both on campus and in public. Have extensive coaching experience at either the high school or college level. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Direct instruction of student-athletes relative to the skills and strategies necessary to compete in cheer and dance at the collegiate level. Develop coaching techniques, players and overall strategies; evaluate individual performances and provide leadership and instruction in areas deemed necessary for success. Plan and coordinate team travel arrangements to include means used, equipment to be taken, logistics, etc. Conduct comprehensive recruiting activities, coordinate with Admissions Office to establish academic eligibility and possible financial aid packages.
  • Participate in fundraising, public relations activities, e.g., public appearances, attendance at conferences, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with NAIA and NCAA rules and regulations. Oversee and ensure compliance with all applicable university and athletic program policies and procedures, including Title IX, internal administrative controls, compliance reporting, and academic standards
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with all applicable NAIA and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Promote an atmosphere of compliance within your program and provide necessary training and education to students, staff, and external stakeholders on relevant compliance and institutional matters.
Participate in a support the university's fundraising efforts, in coordination with the university's advancement office and practices. Oversee and mange relationship's with external and internal stakeholders, including booster clubs, in order to maintain and promote institutional control over your sport program. Manage fundraising, purchasing media interaction, and recruiting contact by external stakeholders of your sport program and coordinate those activities with the proper University office. Communicate, cooperate and assist the athletic and institutional staff with the daily management of all facets of the sport program. Coordinate promotional events and strategies {for all athletic activities} for home contests in conjunction with the Sports Information Director and the Marketing and Communications Office. Education, Certifications and/or Licenses Bachelor's degree preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License required. Head Collegiate or High School Coaching experience preferred, or also having played the sport at a high level {i.e. college or professional) Experience Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of principles of athletic management Knowledge of NCAA and NAIA policies and procedures. Familiarity with NCAA and NAIA rules and procedures.
  • Instructing student-athletes relative to specific skill necessary to compete in cheer and dance.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of competitive dance in higher education. Ability to demonstrate concern for students' academic, social and spiritual well-being Ability and authority to drive a 15-passenger van, i.e. a safe driving record. Ability to coach about and demonstrate appropriate technical skills during practice.
  • Ability to be discrete in handling confidential matters, while complying with FERPA regulations.
  • Proficiency with an integrated administrative system and current software programs.
Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies, and procedures within cheerleading/dancing administration. Ability to develop, plan, implement, and evaluate programs and short- and long-term goals Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgements Ability to adhere to University & departmental policies and procedures. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines with minimum supervision. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques with the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Outstanding interpersonal and community relations skills, Thorough understanding of marketing, development, and promotion programs. Ability to maintain a professional appearance and office atmosphere.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
