Direct and manage the district's athletic program and facilities and instruct and coach students to develop skills and abilities to excel in athletics. Provide each student with the opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity and ensurepliance with all federal, state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and local requirements. Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and ability to excel in assigned sport(s). Contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students involved in athletics. Program Planning and Instruction Establish performance criteria forpetition and manage athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Model performance criteria and perform physical movements required for successful student performance of sport. Maintain an active program that promotes good sportsmanship and student development including the time, resources, and materials to support aplishment of department goals. Establish and maintain physical and academic eligibility requirements for participation in each sport, and verify each athlete's eligibility. Use a variety of instructional and coaching techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the each sport. Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities. Work with other members of school staff to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletics. Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to gauge athletic program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responsive to student needs. Athletic Events Manage district athletic operations including directing ticket sales, employing game officials, and ensuring preparation of facilities. Prepare and approve all interscholastic game schedules. Arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town athletic events. Drive bus to transport students to out-of-districtpetition. Student Management Implement district student management policies,municate expected student behavior related to athletics, and ensure enforcement of student discipline in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Apany and supervise student athletes during games andpetition, both at-home and on out-of-town trips. Instruct and advise students on National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices. Communication Establish and maintain open lines ofmunication on vital issues with parents, students, and teachers. Administration, Budget and Inventory Implement the policies established by federal law, state law, State Board of Education rule, UIL rules, and local board policy in the area of athletics. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Develop and administer a budget based on documented needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely. Oversee the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing of all athletic equipment including maintaining a current inventory of supplies, equipment, and fixed assets and rmending disposal and replacement of equipment. Coordinate the use of all athletic facilities by non-school groups. Plan, organize, and oversee all activities including practices, special events, and tournaments. Community Relations Articulate the district's mission and goals in the area of athletics to themunity and solicit its support in realizing the mission. Demonstrate awareness of district andmunity needs, initiate activities to meet those needs, and use appropriate and effective techniques to encouragemunity and parent involvement. Support athletic booster club activities. Instructional Strategies Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect amodations for differences in student learning styles. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s). Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal. Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Establish and maintain openmunication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, andmunity members. Use effectivemunication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. Keep informed of andply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. Compile, maintain, and file all physical andputerized reports, records, and other documents required. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staffmittees as required.
