Reporting directly to the Head Softball Coach, this position plays a key role in the development, performance, and well‑being of our student-athletes, while contributing to the overall success and culture of a Division I program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to athletic excellence, holistic student-athlete development, and an accountable and inclusive team environment, while operating in full compliance with NCAA , Big 12 Conference, and University of Utah regulations. This position is ideal for a coach who is passionate about pitching development, values strong relationships, and wants to contribute meaningfully to a championship-level program. Responsibilities Pitching Development Lead the instruction, development, and strategic preparation of the pitchers. Coach and instruct student-athletes individually and in group settings, using effective teaching methods aligned with Division I expectations. Assist with game planning, opponent scouting, and competitive strategy in collaboration with the head coach and staff. Plan, conduct, and attend practices, games, tournaments, and team activities in accordance with NCAA and conference regulations. Student-Athlete Experience & Player Development Foster a respectful and educational environment that supports student-athletes' athletic growth, academic success, personal development, and preparation for life beyond college athletics. Support academic monitoring in collaboration with athletic advising staff and assist with oversight of academic support plans as needed. Serve as a positive role model and mentor, upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and care for student-athlete well-being. Promote a culture of accountability, mutual respect, and open communication, supporting both individual and team success. Program Support Assist in the overall administration of the program, including daily practice operations, recruiting, equipment management, facilities coordination, travel, and budget support. Support recruiting efforts by identifying, evaluating, and cultivating relationships with prospective student-athletes who align with the program's athletic, academic, and team values. Uphold team standards of conduct and discipline in ways that positively represent the program, department, and university. Perform public-facing responsibilities such as community engagement, camps and clinics, public speaking, and promotional activities as assigned. Serve on departmental or campus committees as requested. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required. Demonstrated softball skills, game and training strategies plus teaching progressions. Demonstrated effective communication skills through oral, written and electronic forms. Knowledge of, and compliance with, NCAA rules is required. Candidates must be able to work with a diverse group of student-athletes, coaches, support staff, and administrators. Candidates must also be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and be able to travel as assigned by the Head Coach. Preferences Master's Degree preferred Minimum of two years as a collegiate coach and recruiter is highly preferred.
