Job Description:
Longwood University invites applications for the position of Assistant Coach, Baseball (M0050). The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of operating a successful NCAA Division I baseball program. This position plays a key role in student-athlete development, practice planning, game preparation, recruiting, and administrative operations while promoting a culture of excellence, integrity, and student-athlete success. This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Coaching Responsibilities Assist with planning and conducting practices, workouts, and skill-development sessions. Instruct and develop student-athletes in assigned position groups. Assist with game preparation, scouting reports, video analysis, and opponent evaluations. Participate in game-day coaching responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach. Monitor student-athlete academic progress and personal development. Recruiting Responsibilities Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes. Conduct recruiting activities in accordance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations. Build and maintain relationships with prospective student-athletes, families, coaches, and recruiting contacts. Assist with coordinating official and unofficial campus visits. Maintain recruiting records and documentation as required. Administrative Responsibilities Assist with scheduling, travel coordination, camps and clinics, equipment management, and team operations. Support fundraising initiatives, alumni engagement, and community outreach activities. Represent the baseball program and institution in a professional manner at all times. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Athletics Administration.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division I recruiting rules and regulations. Previous collegiate baseball coaching and/or recruiting experience. Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to evaluate baseball talent and project student-athlete success at the Division I level. Ability to travel extensively and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree. NCAA Division I playing and/or coaching experience. Proven record of successful recruiting at the Division I level. Experience utilizing recruiting software, video analysis platforms, and player evaluation technologies.
Additional Information:
This is a part-time, miscellaneous, exempt position limited to an average of 29 hours per week and 1,500 hours maximum per work year. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits do not accompany this position.
