Job Description
Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve as a coach for the girls' basketball team at Orange County High. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in basketball, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This position is crucial in developing players' skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship while promoting a love for the game. Responsibilities Plan and conduct daily practice sessions that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies. Develop and implement game plans for competitions, ensuring that players understand their roles and responsibilities. Monitor and assess athletes' performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance their skills and confidence. Foster a positive team culture that encourages respect, discipline, and sportsmanship among players. Collaborate with other coaches, athletic staff, and school administration to support the overall athletic program. Organize and manage team logistics, including transportation, scheduling, and communication with players and parents. Ensure compliance with all school and athletic regulations, including safety protocols and eligibility requirements. Promote the importance of academics and encourage student-athletes to balance their academic and athletic commitments. Attend all games and events, providing support and guidance to the team during competitions. Requirements Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or equivalent. Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules. Excellent leadership and motivational skills with the ability to inspire young athletes. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with players, parents, and staff. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice and game schedules. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred or must be obtained within a specified timeframe. A passion for youth sports and a commitment to the development of student-athletes both on and off the court. Background check clearance as required by school district policies.
