Missisquoi Valley School District is seeking a dynamic and visionary Instructional Math Coach for our Middle/High School. The core mission of this role is to build school-wide capacity, ensuring that our staff has the pedagogical tools and data-driven insights necessary to raise student achievement and foster a deep understanding of mathematics for all learners. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a "teacher-leader" who lives at the intersection of data and empathy. You aren't just a math expert; you are an adult-learning specialist who understands how to build confidential, trusting relationships with educators while relentlessly pushing for instructional excellence. Key ResponsibilitiesData-Driven Leadership:
Serve on school and district-wide leadership teams to analyze assessment data. You will identify learning barriers and problem-solve systemic actions to alleviate them.Instructional Partnership:
Facilitate "on-the-ground" professional learning through in-class coaching, modeling research-based strategies, lead lab sites, and guiding instructional rounds.Action Research:
Conduct collaborative research projects with teachers to identify and scale effective teaching practices.Classroom Connection:
To stay grounded in practice, you will teach at least one class per semester, using it as a laboratory to test and evaluate research-based strategies with our target student population. The "Coach" Distinction At MVSD, we believe coaching is most effective when it is supportive, not evaluative. This role is separate and apart from the evaluative role of the principal. You will serve as a confidential advocate and facilitator for teacher growth, providing consultative feedback that is focused entirely on professional development and student outcomes. QualificationsEducation:
Master of Arts in Education preferred, with a specific focus on pedagogy and mathematics (or equivalent experience/education).Licensure:
Must hold a valid Vermont Professional Educator's License in Mathematics.Expertise:
A rich array of instructional practices and the ability to interpret complex data into actionable classroom plans.Communication:
Exceptional organizational and facilitation skills for both small and large group professional learning sessions. Why Join MVSD? Right off Interstate 89, MVU is 15 minutes from St. Albans, 40 minutes from Burlington, and just over an hour from Montreal. This is a Union Professional position with the salary ranging by experience and education from $51,250-$91,750.
