Position Summary Nurturing Water Therapies is seeking compassionate, energetic, and dependable Adaptive Swim Instructors to provide individualized swim instruction and water safety education to autistic and neurodivergent individuals, as well as those with a wide range of physical, cognitive, sensory, and developmental disabilities. Primary Responsibilities Teach one-on-one adaptive swim lessons tailored to each swimmer's unique abilities, goals, and learning style. Create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment. Implement individualized lesson plans while adapting instruction based on the swimmer's progress and needs. Utilize visual supports, sensory strategies, behavior support techniques, and effective communication methods. Teach essential water safety, swimming skills, self-regulation, and aquatic confidence. Communicate professionally with families regarding progress, goals, and recommendations. Complete lesson documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Participate in staff meetings, ongoing training, and professional development opportunities. Qualifications Passion for working with children and adults with disabilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Reliable, patient, flexible, and team-oriented. Comfortable working independently while maintaining professionalism. Prior swimming, coaching, teaching, therapy, or childcare experience preferred. Experience working with autistic or neurodivergent individuals is preferred but not required. Current CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certifications (or willingness to obtain before employment). Physical Requirements Ability to work in the water for extended periods. Ability to lift, assist, and support swimmers when appropriate. Ability to demonstrate swimming skills and move safely in an aquatic environment.
