Swim Instructor

West Seattle Health Club is hiring an experienced Part-Time Swim Instructor to join our aquatics team. We are a locally owned, full-service health club in West Seattle with a 7-lane pool, spa, rock wall, kids club, indoor cycling, group exercise classes, and a strong community-focused culture. We are not a chain — we pride ourselves on creating a warm, friendly, and welcoming environment for both our members and our team. We currently have families waiting for swim lessons and are looking for an instructor who enjoys working with children, builds confidence in the water, and creates a safe, positive learning experience. Position Part-Time Swim Instructor Responsibilities Teach private swim lessons to children and/or adults based on skill level and experience Evaluate each swimmer's ability and create appropriate lesson progressions Teach water safety, comfort in the water, stroke development, and basic lap swimming skills Maintain a safe, encouraging, and professional learning environment Communicate clearly and professionally with members, parents, and team members Track swimmer progress and provide helpful feedback Represent West Seattle Health Club in a friendly, positive, and professional manner Qualifications Prior swim instruction experience required Experience working with children strongly preferred Strong knowledge of water safety and swim skill progressions Ability to teach beginner through intermediate swimmers Knowledge of all four competitive strokes preferred Friendly, patient, reliable, and professional Strong communication skills Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred Lifeguard certification is a plus but not required Ideal Candidate The right candidate is someone who genuinely enjoys teaching, connects well with families, and takes pride in helping swimmers gain confidence and improve their skills. You should be dependable, positive, engaging, and comfortable working with children of different ages and ability levels. Schedule Part-time hours available. Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability is preferred. Compensation Pay is based on experience and availability.
