Principal Job Summary:
The Middle School Boys A-Team Basketball Coach is responsible for leading the competitive boys' basketball team at Soap Lake Middle School. The coach will focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies while creating a positive and respectful environment for student-athletes. Afternoon practice and games up to 120 hours per season.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and lead practices focused on basketball skill development and team play Teach basketball fundamentals, rules, and strategies appropriate for middle school girls Coach the A-team during games, tournaments, and team events Supervise players during all team activities Foster a positive and supportive team culture that promotes sportsmanship and student growth Communicate effectively with players, families, and school staff Ensure compliance with school, district, and league rules, including academic eligibility Coordinate with the athletic director on scheduling, transportation, and equipment needs Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes
Qualifications:
Knowledge of basketball rules, techniques, and coaching methods Experience working with middle school-aged girls (preferred) Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills High school diploma or equivalent Must pass a background check and meet district coaching requirements CPR/First Aid certification required (or willing to obtain) SEBB Insurance Program Benefits for eligible positions (630 hours) include: Fully and self-insured medical plans with prescription drug benefits Health savings accounts (HSA) for high deductible medical plan Dental Plans Vision Plans Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance - Employer Paid and Supplemental Options Long Term Disability (LTD) Insurance - Employer Paid and Supplemental Options Flexible Spending Arrangement (FSA) Option Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP)
