Job Description

Position Summary The JV-2 Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for providing leadership, instruction, and supervision to student-athletes participating in the JV-2 Boys Basketball program. The coach will support the overall philosophy and goals of the athletic department and boys basketball program while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, skill development, and academic success. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program Leadership Organize and conduct daily practices that focus on skill development, team concepts, and player growth. Teach fundamental basketball skills and strategies appropriate for the developmental level of student-athletes. Foster a positive and competitive team culture that reflects the values of the school and athletic department. Support and implement the vision, philosophy, and expectations established by the Head Boys Basketball Coach. Student-Athlete Development Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes. Promote character, sportsmanship, respect, responsibility, and teamwork. Encourage academic achievement and monitor student-athlete eligibility requirements. Assist players in developing confidence, leadership skills, and a strong work ethic. Game and Practice Management Attend and supervise all scheduled practices, contests, meetings, and team functions. Prepare practice plans and game strategies that align with program goals. Ensure the safety and welfare of student-athletes during all team activities. Maintain appropriate discipline and enforce team rules consistently. Communication and Collaboration Maintain open communication with players, parents, coaching staff, administration, and the athletic department. Work collaboratively with all levels of the boys basketball program to ensure continuity and player development. Attend coaches' meetings and professional development opportunities as required. Administrative Responsibilities Follow all school, conference, and WIAA rules and regulations. Assist with equipment inventory, distribution, collection, and maintenance. Complete required paperwork, roster management, and other administrative duties in a timely manner. Ensure proper supervision of athletes before, during, and after practices and contests. Qualifications Previous basketball coaching and/or playing experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to teach basketball fundamentals and work effectively with high school-aged students. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, staff, and community members. Successful completion of all required district, conference, and state coaching certifications. Expectations The JV-2 Boys Basketball Coach will: Demonstrate professionalism and integrity at all times. Represent the school and athletic program in a positive manner. Support multi-level program development and long-term athlete growth. Promote a culture of accountability, effort, respect, and continuous improvement.
