Varsity Assistant Track & Field Coach (Sprints) School District of Cudahy Cudahy, WI Job Details Temporary | Seasonal $2,700 - $3,000 a year 1 hour ago Qualifications CPR Certification Teamwork Bachelor's degree First Aid Certification Teaching Full Job Description Position Overview The Assistant Track & Field Coach is responsible for coaching and developing athletes in Track & Field. This position supports the head coach in fostering a competitive, supportive, and inclusive environment, helping student-athletes improve their skills, compete at a high level, and achieve personal and team goals. Key Responsibilities Coaching and Athlete Development Design and implement a specialized training program for your group of athletes that focuses on improving technique, strength, and overall performance. Teach proper form and mechanics for the area you are assigned while emphasizing safety and injury prevention. Provide individualized feedback and coaching to athletes to address strengths and areas for improvement. Incorporate strength and conditioning exercises relevant to sprints events in collaboration with the strength and conditioning coach. Monitor athlete progress and adjust training plans as needed. Team Collaboration and Leadership Work closely with the head coach and other assistants to align event training with overall team goals and meet strategies. Assist in organizing practices, track meets, and team events. Foster a positive and respectful team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, discipline, and personal growth. Encourage academic success and support student-athletes in balancing athletics and academics. Event and Meet Preparation Ensure athletes are prepared for competition, including mental, physical, and technical readiness. Attend all scheduled practices, meets, and team functions. Set up and manage sprinting events during meets and practices, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines. Assist in scouting and recruiting talent when applicable. Administrative Duties Maintain accurate records of athletes' performance and attendance. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and staff about schedules, expectations, and progress. Adhere to school/organization policies, league rules, and governing body regulations. Assist with inventory and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Other Requirements Flexibility to attend practices, meets, and events, including evenings and weekends. Ability to lift and move equipment and set up competition areas. Commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all athletes. Working Conditions Practices and meets will take place indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Physical activity is required, including demonstrating sprinting techniques and setting up equipment. Travel to meets and events, including some overnight trips, may be required. Qualifications Education and Experience Previous experience coaching or competing in track & field (high school, collegiate, or professional level preferred). Experience working with student-athletes in a team setting. Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred but not required). Skills and Certifications Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with athletes, staff, and parents. Proven ability to motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their full potential. Current CPR, First Aid, and concussion training certifications (required). Coaching certification (e.g., USATF, NFHS, or equivalent) preferred.
