Purpose of Position:
The Head Cheer Coach will oversee the entire West Cheer Program and instruct the varsity high school cheer team. They are responsible for helping each student-athlete gain success by reaching their full potential in the classroom and on the field.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise the cheer program coaching staff including Assistant coach
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee training of cheerleaders in conjunction with the other coaches Develop training plans for cheerleaders in conjunction with the other coaches Assist in overseeing the running of specific events as needed at home games as directed by the Director of Athletics and Operations Contribute to game line-up planning with other coaches Attend and coach at all practices Attend and coach at all games/competitions Assist other coaches in monitoring team members' practice attendance, school attendance, meet attendance and grades Assist other coaches in enforcing team policies Responsible for providing kids feedback about their performance related to their disposition, behavior and team skills Manage program budget organize fundraising efforts for the cheer program Coordinate competition and practice schedules with the Director of Athletics and Operations Coordinate off-season training and conditioning programs for the cheer program
Qualifications:
Successful completion of an approved coach's education course (ASEP) or the ability to complete the course prior to the second season of coaching if no teaching license Current certification or must obtain within one month of employment and maintain CPR/AED certification from a national certifying organization Demonstrated ability to provide positive development and motivation of student-athletes Strong cheerleading background Knowledge of cheerleading skills, development and contest situations Ability to initiate and maintain communication with parents Demonstrated organizational ability Skill in planning and budgeting Ability to work cooperatively with other staff

Fall/Winter Sports Seasons Working Conditions:
Monday, Wednesday's, and Friday's:
4:00 PM
  • 6:00 PM Will be expected to work in evenings and weekends.
Will also be expected to work in various outdoor weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
The job will require you to stand for extended periods of time, while coaching at practices and games

Environmental Adaptability:
Ability to work under general safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury. Ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects and materials of moderate weight, twenty to fifty pounds. The job will require you to stand for extended periods of time, while coaching at practices and games.
