Civil and Environmental Engineering The Department of Civil, Coastal & Environmental Engineering at the University of South Alabama (USA) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with a specialty in Coastal Engineering. The expected start date will be August 15, 2026. Applicants must show exceptional promise for high-quality research, teaching, professional development, and the ability to build extramurally funded research programs. Candidates are expected to contribute to the department's growth and demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprising individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. Applicants must hold an earned Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or a closely related discipline at the time of hire. To be considered for the rank of Associate Professor, candidates must demonstrate an established research record, scholarly productivity, and an actively funded research program. The preferred candidate has coastal-related field and experimental research experience, including using wave flumes or wave basins, and an interest in teaching water resources courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Located in the beautiful, historic city of Mobile, the University of South Alabama holds a Carnegie Classification of R2 and, under President Bonner's recently announced goal, aims to achieve R1 status. USA is recognized as a National University by U.S. News & World Report and "Washington Monthly." The university enrolls more than 14,000 students across its ten colleges and schools. Mobile is home to Airbus America's Engineering Center and the first Airbus assembly lines in North America.
