Job Description

One-Year Assistant Professor of Psychological Science The Department of Psychological Science
  • is pleased to announce a full-time, one-year Assistant Professor position beginning in August for the 2026 academic year Eastern is Connecticut's only public liberal arts university, and Psychology is among the largest majors on campus.
We are seeking a generalist in Psychology for this one-year position. In the fall, the candidate will teach Introductory Psychology and our Introduction to the Psychology Major, a one credit course designed to help orient students to our major, and in the spring, they will teach Research Methods, Introductory Psychology, and an additional Psychology elective for majors. Ability to teach Research Methods is required, and additional expertise in one of the following areas preferred: Developmental, Industrial Organizational, or Biological Psychology. The candidate will have a 4-4 teaching load, advising, and departmental service responsibilities. Candidates should demonstrate potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, especially with first-generation students. Those willing to mentor students in their research are encouraged to apply. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. before August 2026, though ABDs will be considered. Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
Ability to teach across the curriculum with specialization preferences in maternity, pediatric, geriatric, and psychiatric care nursing. Additional course needs include Introduction to Nursing Practice, and Fundamentals of Nursing. Faculty are assigned a 12-credit hour load (four courses) each semester. In addition to classroom/ lab teaching responsibilities, faculty are expected to engage in academic advising and service to the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in nursing (MSN) and State of Connecticut RN license (or eligible) A record of effective teaching of university level nursing courses.
Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate will demonstrate effectiveness in working with diverse populations. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience at the baccalaureate or graduate level; 3-5 years of relevant clinical practice as an RN or APRN; professional certification; doctoral degree in nursing (Ph.D., Ed.

D., DNE, or DNP). Candidates must meet all clinical agency requirements, including documentation of immunizations (MMR, Hepatitis B), TB screening, and current CPR certification at the time of employment. QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in Chemistry is required. The ideal candidate should have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and experience teaching General Chemistry Lectures and Laboratories. Ability to instruct other advanced chemistry courses and experience with STEM education preferred.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position provides instruction in courses required for students majoring in Biochemistry, Biology, Environmental Earth Science, Health Sciences and Nursing. Teaching responsibilities will include 12 load credits per semester teaching lecture and lab courses in general chemistry. Applicants must submit evidence of quality undergraduate teaching.
