Located on the southeast Atlantic coast in Brunswick, midway between Savannah, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida, the College of Coastal Georgia is an undergraduate college in the University System of Georgia with an additional outreach through the Camden Center in Kingsland, Georgia. To learn more about the College of Coastal Georgia's Vision, Mission and Values please click here: https://www.ccga.edu/about/visionmission/ Job Summary The School of Arts & Sciences seeks a dynamic candidate for a temporary, non-tenure-track faculty position in Chemistry. This is an academic year 10-month contract. The contract is expected to begin August 1, 2026. Responsibilities 1
  • Develop and teach a variety of courses in chemistry, ranging from general education courses to upper-division courses for Biological Sciences and/or Environmental Science majors; some online teaching may be required, as needed 2
  • Maintain on-campus office hours; prepare lesson plans, syllabi (including course objectives), lectures, and other course materials such as quizzes and exams; and submit final grades and attendance reports on time. 3
  • Engagement in professional development, service, and scholarship activities. 4
  • Travel to fulfill instructional or other duties, including to the Brunswick Campus or the Camden Center location. 5
  • Maintain a commitment to high-impact educational practices and student success. 6
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or a closely-related discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate level credits in chemistry. Other Required Qualifications Commitment to highly effective and engaging science education. Commitment to implementing experiential learning and high-impact educational practices in the classroom, lab, and/or field. Required Experience Successful teaching experience at the collegiate level. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Experience Expertise or strong background in biochemistry or environmental chemistry. Experience with in-person and online/hybrid instruction. Recent experience teaching college-level courses in chemistry Experience mentoring undergraduate research especially through Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs). Experience developing and implementing innovative pedagogy.
