Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance Location Demorest (Main) Campus Job Type Full-Time Faculty - 9 Month Job Number 202500138 Division Walker College of Business Opening Date 12/08/2025 Closing Date Continuous Description Founded in 1897, Piedmont Universityis a private, comprehensive liberal arts university with an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students at campuses in Demorest and Athens,Georgia. Description The Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance in the WalkerCollege of Business at Piedmont University is a nine-month, non-tenure faculty position in finance at the rank of assistant or associateprofessor (depending on the candidate's level of experience). The ideal candidate possess the ability to teach courses at the bachelor's andmaster's levels in the areas of Finance. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester, with courses delivered both oncampus and online. Excellence in teaching is prioritized, but scholarship in teaching and learning or within the discipline, involvementwith advising, and service to the College, the University, and the profession are also expected. Opportunities exist to teach courses in thesummer in addition to the nine month contract, but there is no expectation of summer teaching. Essential Functionsand Responsibilities Providing high-quality instruction and interacting with students in a professional manner; Advising students on both their educational progress and their personal and professional goals; Maintaining accurate and securerecords of student grades, attendance, and advisement; Maintaining high standards of professionalism in the content, objectives,teaching, and grading of all courses; Maintaining an understanding of college policies and the curriculum and degree requirements oftheir respective schools; Participating in departmental, school, and college faculty meetings and serving on committees asappropriate; Contributing to the ongoing operation of their respective departments and schools; Assessing their teachingeffectiveness via annual portfolios and evaluating courses formally in accordance with official college procedure; Assuring theiravailability to students, faculty, staff, and administrators by posting and keeping reasonable office hours, as determined by the dean oftheir respective schools; Maintaining a professional level of scholarship by continuous study, research, and attendance andparticipation at professional meetings. These activities are supported by the college through departmental travel funds and the facultydevelopment program Filing accurate course syllabi with the appropriate school each semester The ideal candidatewill: Be committed to providing students with the theoretical and practical foundation needed to succeed in the fields ofFinance and Financial Management services. Have a willingness to utilize technology and computerized instructional methods. Bea servant style leader who is driven to see students succeed. Be an outstanding collaborator, working with industry to create idealwork experiences that provide Piedmont students with a comparative advantage. Possess successful experience in the application ofstudent learning and assessment practices, processes, and technologies that enhance teaching is preferred. Possess effective oral andwritten communication skills. Demonstrate strong organizational ability. Possess strong knowledge of subject matter under CIPcodes that include: 52.08 - Finance and Financial Management Services. Demonstrate strong knowledge of instructional theory,educational practices, and assessment. Have a proven track record of fund development. Be an outstanding recruiter of talentedstudents to grow the program. Reliable, consistent attendance is a requirement and essential function of all positions. Employees are expected to be punctual and dependable in order to meet the needs of their department and the College, including on-siteduties. Typical Qualifications Education and Experience Minimum requirement for successful candidates include a Masters degree in Business or a related field from a regionally accreditedinstitution with at least 18 graduate hours in finance. Proficiency with quantitative methods and prior teaching experience in acollege/university environment highly preferred. Licenses and Certification Valid GeorgiaDriver's License (or obtained within 30 days of hire date) and satisfactory MVR. Supplemental Information Environmental, Physical, and VisualAcuity Factors Work will be performed in indoor environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but notnecessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents will perform work that is mostly sedentary, where they exert up to 10 pounds of forceoccasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, includingthe human body. Incumbents will regularly get up and down from a seated position, reach, bend, and stand throughout the day. Incumbents are required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures,transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
