Students learn about the larger world by studying societies, cultures, and economies across a broad chronological and geographical spectrum, which makes them better global citizens, problem solvers, and communicators. Radow College of Humanities & Social Sciences is dedicated to pioneering workforce readiness in the humanities and social sciences. Job Summary Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of History in the Department of History and Philosophy with a preferred start date of August 2027. This is a nine-month contracted position and is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in History, Interdisciplinary Studies, and/or Conflict Management, including Conflict in Africa, African history, world history, historical methods, research seminars and related courses. Faculty are expected to teach courses of variable size and modalities, including large class sizes, and on the Kennesaw and/or Marietta campuses. Mentor graduate students in KSU's International Conflict Management and Interdisciplinary Studies programs. Produce and disseminate high-quality, meaningful scholarship in history or a closely related field Pursue external funding to support research and scholarship Serve the Department/College/University/professional community Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines. Required Qualifications An earned Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in History, or a closely related discipline, is required at the time of hire. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, mentorship, and promoting student success at the university level, such as, but not limited to, teaching experience in undergraduate African history courses Demonstrated potential for research and scholarship within the discipline, such as, but not limited to, peer-reviewed publications, academic presentations, and external funding applications Demonstrated potential for excellence in service to the college, university, profession, and/or community Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching at the undergraduate level, in different modalities and different course sizes. Evidence of sustained research agenda in African history Demonstrated interest in or experience with digital humanities Experience applying for or working with extramural funding Required Documents to Attach 1.
