Founded in 1919, The American University in Cairo (AUC) moved to a new 260-acre state-of-the-art campus in New Cairo in 2008. Job Description:

The American University in Cairo's Onsi Sawiris School of Business invites nominations and applications for a faculty position in the Heikal Department of Management at the Assistant/Associate/Professor of Finance level for a fixed-term one-year appointment, beginning in Fall 2027. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to teaching undergraduate and graduate finance courses and thesis supervision in the Master of Science in Finance. Possible fields of interest include, but are not limited to, financial economics, business finance, corporate finance, applied banking, Fintech, algorithmic trading, retail banking, and portfolio theory. The Heikal Department of Management seeks an exceptional applicant whose research complements our strengths in the department while transcending traditional research in finance. The applicant is expected to develop a world-class research portfolio and build a diverse research team in collaboration with business and industry partners, focusing on addressing issues related to emerging markets, with a particular emphasis on the Middle East and Africa regions. Applicants will also be expected to engage in academic and community development services consistent with teaching and research, including ongoing activities in the department, and undertake development projects. All faculty members must be willing to teach introductory courses.

Requirements:

Applicants must hold a PhD in finance, economics, or a business-related field from a reputable university, preferably AACSB and/or EQUIS accredited. Applicants must demonstrate an internationally recognized record of research excellence and scholarly impact. Applicants must have a proven record of research publications in the past five years in top-tier journals (A•/A according to the ABDC ranking or Q1/Q2 according to Scopus ranking). PhD candidates must demonstrate a strong research agenda and a history of securing competitive research funding. Candidates should demonstrate commitment to academic research, teaching, and service.
