Job Description

Job Summary :
Teaching responsibilities will include first-year composition and a full range of literature courses. We seek candidates whose areas of expertise include British and postcolonial literatures. The selected candidate will have opportunities to teach and develop courses in their area/s of specialization, as well as tailor general education courses to their interests. Expectations of the position include service to the department, college, and profession.
Required qualifications:
Ph.D. in English and evidence of successful teaching.
Essential Functions:
Facilitate student learning Support the mission, vision, and values of Bethel College Mentor undergraduate research Participate in the recruitment process of students that meet departmental standards Foster the development of excellence in teaching within the department Utilize effective teaching methods and strategies Promote collegiality and collaborative relationships with other Bethel College faculty and staff Satisfy the duties of an Official with Authority (OWA) and Mandated Reporter relating to Title IX and the Bethel College Equal Opportunity, Harassment, & Non­ Discrimination Policy and Procedures Qualifications Technological savvy Ability to successfully learn the college's LMS Ability to communicate effectively with students, administrators, faculty, staff, and outside constituencies Strong organizational and management skills Ability to coordinate multiple tasks under tight deadlines and stressful situations Education and/or
Experience:
Ph.D. preferred; MA required
