The School of the Arts at Northern Kentucky University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Choral/Vocal Music Education at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2027. We seek a dynamic and collaborative educator committed to excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship.Primary Responsibilities :
Teach undergraduate courses in music education and choral music education, which will include methods, pedagogy, supervision of student teachers, and other courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Teach undergraduate courses in a secondary area of expertise.Courses may include:
applied lessons, music history, music theory, ensemble conducting, or aural skills. Coordinate the choral music education program and collaborate with faculty across performance and education areas. Engage in recruitment efforts for the music education program through fostering positive relationships with public school music educators and their programs. Demonstrate a trajectory of active research, scholarship, and/or creative activity. Participate in service to the program, college, and profession. Advise undergraduate students and contribute to curriculum development.Required Qualifications :
PhD, DME, or DMA in Music Education (ABD considered). Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in K-12 choral music. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. Record of scholarship that includes an established or emerging portfolio of publications and/or presentations at state/regional/national conferences. Familiarity with current pedagogy, trends, and technologies in music education.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supervising student teachers or coordinating field experiences. Collegiate-level teaching experience. Record of scholarly activity in music education.Application Materials :
