Sonja Yow Job Summary/Basic Functions The School of Education at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2026-2027. Applicants should hold an earned Ph.D. in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. ABD applicants may be considered with evidence of a scheduled doctoral defense that occurs no later than May prior to a Fall appointment. The position begins August 2026. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Special Education or a closely related field. The position serves undergraduate and graduate special education majors and will teach a 4/4 load in both traditional and online modalities. Candidates should have three years of teaching experience in early childhood special education, deaf and hard of hearing, learning and behavior disabilities, and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in educational and assistive technologies that support learners with disabilities across educational settings. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda, conduct academic advising, and participate in service to the school, college, university, and community. Membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international professional organizations is recommended. The University places a high priority on being leaders in the responsible use of artificial intelligence and in building such capacity in our students. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline and/or a willingness to pursue professional development to acquire such expertise.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
