Assistant Professor, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Tenure Track)

Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college, offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. The selected candidate will play a key role in launching the new Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, scheduled to begin in fall 2026 at our state-of-the-art Ultrasound Lab in Framingham. We are seeking someone who is innovative, student-centered, and passionate about teaching, mentoring, and supporting learners from various backgrounds. Responsibilities include instructing in classroom, lab, and simulation settings; developing curriculum; advising students; and participating in accreditation processes and program administration. The faculty member will design and execute instructional and evaluation materials in accordance with the philosophy of the DMS program, the mission of MassBay Community College, and the standards established by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS) and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Instructional duties may encompass day, hybrid, and online modalities. Faculty members must maintain up-to-date credentials in at least one of the program's concentrations, such as Abdominal- extended or Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Support MassBay's mission, vision, values, and student outcomes; Manage a full teaching load in DMS across classroom, lab, and simulation environments; Participate in item writing, proctor exams, prepare syllabi, and develop curriculum aligned with learning outcomes; Teach in traditional, hybrid, and online formats; Use varied strategies to foster critical thinking; Create assessment plans for course and program effectiveness; Advise and mentor students; hold office hours; Join governance activities, including committees, advisory boards, and accreditation; Maintain documentation for assessment and accreditation; Assist with admissions processes; Submit reports as needed to leadership; Help identify clinical sites and collaborate with clinical professionals; Participate in special college-related events such as Open House, commencement, pinning, and some meetings and events outside of regular work hours; Adhere to the Massachusetts Community College Contract, including but not limited to:- Academic advisor to students.
- Post and maintain a minimum of four (4) office hours per week.
- Serve on College committees (college governance) as elected or appointed.
- Attend Division, Department, and Committee meetings.
- Serve on Ultrasound Program committees.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (or foreign equivalency); Current and active credential(s) in one or more DMS concentrations (e.g., RDMS, RVT, RMSKS); Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer; Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, and educational theory; Knowledge and application of curriculum design, assessment, and teaching methodologies; Current health and immunizations required for clinical clearance; Current BLS certification appropriate to teaching responsibilities; Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Office, learning management systems (LMS), and simulation technologies.Preferred Qualifications:
Sensitivity and commitment to various perspectives and fairness; Experience working in a community college or similar environment; Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need; Master's degree in a related field; Experience with program accreditation and regulatory compliance; Teaching experience in a college or clinical education setting; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse faculty, staff, and students; Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and outcome measurement.Additional Information:
Salary Range:
$74,000- $87,325 in accordance with one's education and experience as dictated by the collective bargaining agreement classification compensation structure.
