Position Overview:

The Master of Social Work program in the Graduate School of Counseling and Social Work at Merrimack College invites applicants for one (1) assistant professor of practice, non-tenure track, 9-month faculty position to begin in Spring 2027. We are specifically looking for an individual who will teach on-campus and online in the Master of Social Work program, which is accredited by CSWE. Candidates must have a MSW from a CSWE accredited program or equivalency established through CSWE and a doctorate in Social Work or in a related field. The candidate will be responsible for teaching a total of 8 courses across fall and spring semesters, serve as an academic advisor and actively contribute to the MSW program, the Graduate School of Counseling and Social Work, as well as the college.

On Campus MSW Program:

Aligned with the mission of Merrimack College, the Master of Social Work program is an on- ground advanced generalist program and is accredited by CSWE. It represents a dynamic, innovative, and growth-oriented training program with a commitment to working with vulnerable and marginalized populations; and affirms the values of self-determination, sustainability, and community and global solidarity. The program is designed to offer both a part-time and full-time and Advanced Standing Track for students. We plan to launch a comparable online MSW program effective Fall 2026. The faculty member will teach a total of 32 credit/contact hours (8 courses) across the fall and spring semesters. Faculty are expected to teach on-campus courses in the evening after 4:00 pm. Online courses will be asynchronous and synchronous. It is critical for the faculty to possess confidence and skill teaching and advising adult learners. The successful candidate should demonstrate the experience or ability to teach a range of courses in social work discipline including but not limited to: Introduction to Social Work Research and Practice, Evaluation of Social Work Practice, Contemporary Social Welfare Policy, and other related courses. The faculty will be responsible for providing formal on-campus and online teaching, effective delivery of instructional material and course management (e.g., assessments, grading, etc.), advising, mentoring, and supervision of graduate students, attending faculty meetings, and completing social work programmatic tasks, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean.

Required Qualifications:

Master s degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program or equivalency as defined by CSWE Doctoral degree in Social Work or an Ed.

D. or Ph.D. in a related field Minimum 2-years full-time post MSW experience in social work practice Minimum of 3 years of on-campus and/or online teaching in a MSW program

Preferred Qualifications:

LCSW/LICSW

with minimum 2-years post MSW clinical practice and supervision experience. Experience with online platforms for course delivery and assessment. Experience working with and/or teaching about multicultural populations, immigrant populations, or underserved communities. Proficiency in a second language as a bilingual speaker.

Applications will be reviewed immediately. Compensation The expected 9-month base salary range (paid over 12 months) for the Assistant Professor of Practice position is $78,000-$90,000. The actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, candidate qualifications and prior experience, scope of responsibilities, internal equity, and market considerations.
