Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Dean of Liberal Arts and Professional Programs, the faculty member will teach a half academic load, serve as a Quincy College academic expert within the field of Computer Science, and carry out other job-related duties as assigned. The position teaches up to 9 credits and works a 15 hour work week. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: student advising, curriculum development, assignment to college committees, and teaching/learning projects as assigned by the Dean. Duties which may be assigned to a faculty member are set forth in the Quincy Education Association Agreement. Essential duties also include collaborating with other faculty members in the planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating of courses, programs, and degrees; working to establish and integrate a cross-curricular approach to course offerings; participating in the annual review and revision of course materials, such as outlines, outcomes, books, and assignments; participating in assessment and program review requirements; maintaining currency and awareness of changes within and those effecting the discipline; demonstrating motivation, self-direction, and perseverance toward achieving the philosophy and mission of the Division of Professional Programs and Quincy College; engaging in the academic life of the college by serving on college committees.
EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Doctoral degree from an accredited higher education institution is preferred. Those with master's degree in computer science or related field and significant field experience will be considered.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of three (3) years college teaching experience, including online teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting; Experience in conducting course design and learning assessments using multiple measures; Ability to teach in the following areas: databases, networking, analysis of algorithms, software engineering, artificial intelligence and related subfields, data analytics, and programming languages such as Python and C++, as well as general Computer Science; Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission; Experience instructing students from a diverse background; Experience using technology in the classroom and for distance learning, and traditional/nontraditional methods of instruction;
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of Quincy College's certification program (Canvas, Quality Matters, Canvas Studio) for teaching or, in the sole determination of Quincy College, the equivalent of that program.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated academic excellence as well as compassion and enthusiasm for community college students. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to education and working with a diverse student population. Demonstration of professional activity aimed toward maintaining currency in the discipline.

Job Requirements:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Teach courses within the Computer Science program, and as otherwise directed by the Vice President of Academic Affairs and/or the Dean of the Division of Professional Programs; Maintain a regular schedule of office hours and provide appropriate academic counseling, advising, and tutorial support to students; Collaborate with other faculty in the planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating of Computer Science and related courses; Provide leadership within the Computer Science program and all aspects therein; Participate and/or lead course, program, and degree developments; Collaborate with other faculty across the College to maintain and advance the health and status of the Computer Science program; Assist with administrative reporting required by College governance procedures to include but not limited to program review, program/course assessment, accreditation, and others as appropriate. Identify and pursue opportunities to advance the Computer Science programs, students, or the curriculum. Demonstrate motivation, self-direction, and perseverance towards achieving the philosophy and mission of Quincy College, the Division of Professional Programs, and the Computer Science degree and certificate programs; Engage in the academic life of the College by serving on and participating in College committees; Participate in mandatory training/coursework; including but not limited to: Title IX and Sexual Misconduct Sexual Harassment and Non-Discrimination Security Policy and Notification of Security Reporting FERPA Municipal Ethics Law Perform other duties as assigned.
