Adjunct Job Description Position Summary:
Adjunct faculty teach courses as assigned based on disciplinary needs, educational background, and experience. Adjunct faculty develop and/or present course materials as requested by their supervisor and evaluate student progress in adherence with the core learning outcomes of assigned courses. Adjunct faculty are expected to adhere to College requirements, work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community, and use varying teaching styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate student mastery of core learning outcomes using the most relevant and scholarly and artistic tools and practices available in the discipline. 2. Actively engage students in critical thinking, meta-cognitive processes, and advancement of critical essential communication skills. 3. Infuse multicultural and diverse perspectives into the instructional process as appropriate and conduct classes in a manner that demonstrates respect for individual and cultural differences. 4. Model and cultivate open-minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and creative problem-solving. 5. Maintain currency in academic discipline and pedagogy. 6. Submit syllabi and other instructional materials in a timely manner. 7. Maintain regular communication with students and, when appropriate, use the Student Success Alert notification process. 8. Assess student work in a timely manner and submit course grades by the posted deadline. 9. Online course instructors will respond to student email inquiries within 24-36 hours. 10. Use the FCC email account provided for them to communicate with the College, faculty, staff, and students. Share this information with their students.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
1. An Associate's degree or certification in Construction Management, or related Computer Aided Design field. 2. Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge in the latest trends within the Construction industry 3. The ability to interpret, evaluate and teach both theory based and hands on concepts 4. Related professional experience or appropriate professional licensure in content area or closely related field
Desired Qualifications:
1. Certification in any related Computer Aided Design/Construction area or skill. 2. Ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multi-cultural workplace 3. Two years of college teaching experience to include but is not limited to commercial and residential construction, blueprint reading, construction management and general construction.
