Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
SVSU invites applicants for a one-year, temporary position to be hired either as an Assistant Professor of RPW, with a completed Ph.D. by the time of appointment, or as an Instructor of RPW, if ABD. This one-year temporary position begins July 1, 2026. Teaching responsibilities are in-person, on-campus (24 credit hours/year), with some limited opportunities for online teaching. Anticipated course load includes an introductory professional writing course for business majors as well as upper-level courses in rhetorical theory, instruction writing, and writing for community organizations. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate fully in department planning, assessment, and recruitment activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Technical Communication, Composition and Rhetoric or a closely related field to be considered for the rank of Assistant Professor. ABD candidates will be considered for the rank of Instructor. Demonstrated success in teaching introductory through advanced writing courses Experience teaching and mentoring a broad spectrum of undergraduate students Experience and ability to positively interact with all members of the campus community Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations
