Job Description

Job Title Assistant Professor, HPER (Health, Physical Education, and Recreation) Essential Job Functions Conducts a requisite number of classes/Teaches assigned subjects Provides guidance and supervision to students Creates and maintains an environment conducive to excellence in teaching, learning, and research Preparation and formulation of curricula focused on his/her subject(s) Participates in departmental meetings and holds scheduled office hours Maintains equipment in the laboratory, makes arrangements for laboratory practical sessions, and provides materials to students Provides academic support to other faculty members Serves on departmental and University committees, as assigned Coordinates (or assists with the coordination of) the Sports Management Program Other related duties, as assigned Qualifications Doctor of Philosophy in Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management, or related discipline Published works preferred Three (3) years' experience in higher education Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledgeable of National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) Standards Demonstrated integrity, loyalty and time management skills Strong analytical, observational, and problem-skills skills Excellent research, writing and interpersonal skills Excellent communication and collaborative skills Passion for teaching and engaging with students Skilled in mentoring students Ability to work well with colleagues and foster a collegial environment conducive to teamwork and students' high level of learning
