Faculty Description Job Summary/Description/Physical Demands Applications are invited for a tenure-track appointment as an Assistant/ Associate Professor in English with a contract starting August 2027. New Mexico Highlands University is an open-admissions university with over 70% of students being Hispanic, Native American, or African American, and nearly 40% studying at the master's level. The university is committed to student success and improved retention and graduation rates. NMHU serves approximately 2,500 undergraduate and graduate students at the main campus in Las Vegas, NM (one hour east of Santa Fe) and another 1,300 students at centers in Rio Rancho, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Española, Farmington, and Raton. The university enrolls students from some 42 states, 19 tribes, and 35 foreign countries. For more information about the university, visit the website at www.nmhu.edu Teaching responsibilities (18 credit hours in the first year; 24 credit hours in subsequent years) include undergraduate and graduate courses in linguistics, grammar, history of the English language, composition, and other courses as assigned. In addition to teaching, the selected candidate will be expected to mentor undergraduate and graduate students; conduct research in area of specialization; and present research at scholarly conferences and in professional publications. Teaching responsibilities may include half-semester courses and online synchronous or online asynchronous courses as assigned by chair.
