Job Description

Position Description:
The School of Education at Mercy University invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Educational Leadership who can also serve as the School of Education's Assessment Director. This position is ideal for a scholar-practitioner who is committed to preparing educational leaders and contributing to the continuous improvement of educator preparation programs. The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in educational leadership and related areas, mentor students, and maintain an active program of scholarship. In addition, the faculty member will contribute to the School of Education's efforts to strengthen program assessment, data-informed decision making, and accreditation processes. Working collaboratively with faculty and school leadership, the successful candidate will help support the implementation and ongoing improvements of the School's assessment system to ensure program quality, effectiveness, and compliance with accreditation standards. The role includes responsibility for coordinating assessment processes across programs, supporting faculty in the use of assessment data for program improvement, and leading the preparation of reports for accreditation. The faculty member selected for this position will receive some reassigned time to support these leadership responsibilities. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
Faculty Responsibilities:
Teach courses in educational leadership, educational policy, educational assessment, organizational leadership, research methods, or related areas Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and departmental initiatives Maintain an active program of scholarship consistent with expectations for rank Participate actively in school, university, and professional service Maintain a commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive, and evidence-based instruction
Assessment Director Responsibilities:
Provide leadership for the School of Education's assessment system across undergraduate and graduate programs Collaborate with faculty and school leadership to support the implementation and refinement of the School of Education's assessment system Assist in coordinating the collection and analysis of candidate performance and program outcome data Work with program coordinators and faculty to ensure assessments align with program goals, professional standards, and accreditation requirements Support the preparation of assessment reports for accreditation and institutional effectiveness processes Promote the use of assessment data to inform program improvement and curriculum development Serve as a liaison between the School of Education and institutional offices related to assessment, institutional research, and accreditation
Required Qualifications:
Earned doctorate (PhD or EdD) in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, Higher Education, or a closely related field Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching Familiarity with teacher certification standards and state education requirements, particularly in New York Experience with program assessment, accreditation processes, or institutional effectiveness in higher education Evidence of scholarly accomplishments commensurate with rank Strong organizational, analytical, and collaborative leadership skills Experience working with data to support program evaluation and improvement Commitment to equity, access, and culturally responsive education and leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with educator preparation accreditation or program review processes, especially CAEP Familiarity with assessment management systems used in higher education Experience coordinating or supporting program-level assessment processes Administrative or leadership experience in P-12 school settings Evidence of regional or national engagement in the field of educational leadership
