N/A POSITION SUMMARY
The School of Science and Kinesiology at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Biology & Interdisciplinary Science with the ability to teach across other disciplines in the school, as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The School of Science and Kinesiology at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor in Biology & Interdisciplinary Science tenure track. The successful candidate will teach both introductory and upper-division undergraduate coursework in Biology and other STEM fields appropriate to their expertise and/or graduate training. Candidates with the ability to also contribute to teaching in Health Sciences, Physics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or Energy sciences will receive the highest consideration. This position offers the opportunity to teach across STEM programs, as well as team-teach in USAO's Interdisciplinary Core Curriculum in line with our unique liberal arts curriculum, collaborative faculty, and close-knit student body. Job responsibilities include 12 teaching load hours in both fall and spring semesters, student mentorship, maintaining active scholarship, broadly defined, in their field, and university service responsibilities. This is not a remote position.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
: A Ph.D. in Biology or closely related field with proven graduate or professional experience in at least one of the fields listed above. A liberal arts and/or an interdisciplinary background is a plus. The preferred candidate is a motivated educator with both academic and professional experience. A record of excellence in teaching in higher education is desired, along with evidence of active scholarship particularly involving or demonstrated potential for undergraduate mentored research. Individuals with an understanding of and commitment to interdisciplinary, liberal arts education will be given the most consideration. Candidates should possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues, and a disposition suited to the unique interdisciplinary learning environment of USAO. The successful candidate must demonstrate a high degree of individual initiative and observe high standards of personal and professional integrity. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check.

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) is a public liberal arts college located in Chickasha, Oklahoma, about 40 minutes from Oklahoma City, and is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC). It is charged by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education "to provide an outstanding general education program for the State of Oklahoma with strong offerings in the liberal arts and sciences. The experience will feature interdisciplinary team-teaching and will extend throughout the undergraduate experience. To support this charge USAO is directed "to assemble a faculty whose interests, knowledge, and experiences transcend their specialized fields of graduate study and who are dedicated to liberal arts education."
