No Commission 40.00 hours per week / Day Shift / Full-Time Description The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine (UPSDM), with its Dental Hygiene Program in the Department of Periodontics and Preventive Dentistry, announces the immediate availability of one full-time (12-month) non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Rank and salary are commensurate with education, teaching, and professional experience. Candidates must be a graduate of a CODA-accredited dental hygiene program, hold a master's degree or higher, and have at least 5 years of clinical or professional experience and 3 years of teaching experience. Candidates must also possess or be eligible for Pennsylvania dental hygiene licensure and a local anesthesia permit, and a background check is required prior to the official offer. Primary responsibilities include clinical, laboratory, and didactic instruction for the Dental Hygiene Associate Degree program, with additional duties that include committee work, student advising, scholarly activities, research, professional organization participation, community service, and faculty practice. Pitt Dental Medicine is located on the University main campus in Pittsburgh, contiguous with the other five health science schools. The school's general dental clinics and 11 specialty clinics play an integral role in improving the oral health of the patient population of southwestern Pennsylvania and beyond. As part of the clinical practice and faculty of the University of Pittsburgh, the practitioner will have the opportunity to collaborate with clinicians, innovators, and investigators from around the world and become part of a vibrant community of healthcare providers dedicated to making a difference in their chosen field and in the lives of others.
