FACULTY POSITION
Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer's & Neurodegenerative Diseases The Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer's Neurodegenerative Diseases in the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio invites applications for an early career faculty position at the Assistant Professor Tenure Track rank. A qualified candidate will hold a PhD or MD (or equivalent) degree and have postdoctoral training relevant to neurobiology/neurodegeneration. The applicant review committee will be looking for a candidate with a record of innovative research and academic scholarship broadly related to translational neurobiology of aging. Preference will be given to those with a successful funding record and hold current funding support that will support the development of their independent research program at UT Health SA. The Institute houses the NIA‑designated South Texas Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC), directed by Dr. Sudha Seshadri, and also serves as a Center of Excellence for Dementia with Lewy Bodies and Parkinson's disease. Faculty participate in major national and international studies, including

DISCOVERY.
Robust research infrastructure includes cores in population neuroscience, genetics, multi‑omics, imaging, sensorimotor assessment, and integrated brain and biobanking resources. Over the past eight years, Biggs Institute faculty have published more than 800 peer‑reviewed papers and secured over $150 million in grant funding. Competitive candidates will have formal or informal teaching and mentoring experience in areas relevant to neurobiology, neurodegenerative disease, or the biology of aging, experience working on clinical research projects and managing clinical research teams, and familiarity with both basic and clinical research protocols, study design, tools, and data analysis and dissemination. Ideally, the qualified candidate will be experienced in the development of research projects and programs with the potential to bridge the research efforts of multiple centers, departments and institutes to promote robust research collaborations both across and outside of the University. Responsibilities include training and overseeing research assistants, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in techniques, assays and assessments of translational and clinical research. Participation in teaching, graduate student committees and mentorship is expected within the first two years of employment. Service to the university and field will be expected as the candidate works to build their package for promotion to tenure. The successful candidate will be encouraged to disseminate their work and represent UT Health San Antonio at local, national, and international venues and conferences. The candidate is expected to pursue independent research funding from both internal and external funding sources to support continuous research efforts to their program.
