Job Summary The Department of Computer Science within the Soules College of Business at The University of Texas at Tyler invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Computer Science. Effective Fall 2026, the Department of Computer Science will transition to the College of Engineering. The successful candidate will join a department of 10 faculty members supporting five-degree programs: B.S. in Computer Science, B.S. in Computer Information Systems, B.S. in Information Technology, M.S. in Computer Science, and M.S. in Cybersecurity and Data Analytics. Primary teaching responsibilities include undergraduate- and graduate-level Computer Science courses. Additional responsibilities include service at the department, college, and university levels, as well as service to the professional community. Key Responsibilities Demonstrate excellence in teaching and research, readiness to support existing and proposed degree programs evidence of an active and sustained research agenda, and experience supervising graduate students Engage in scholarly activities through publications, grant writing, and collaboration with faculty across the department, college, and university. Maintain regular on-campus presence. Attend departmental meetings. Required Qualifications Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field An active scholarly agenda appropriate for a tenure-track position Evidence of effective teaching Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in professional service Preferred Qualifications Specialization in Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Large Language Models, or Data Analytics Complementary research and technical expertise Experience with grant-funded research or grant writing Other Information About The University of Texas at Tyler The University of Texas at Tyler is part of the prestigious University of Texas System that includes 14 institutions located throughout the state. Additional Information The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
