Assistant Professor Starting Date Fall 2026 Responsibilities The Department of Political Science at Midwestern State University invites applications for a full-time 9- month tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026. As a faculty member in the Department of Political Science you will be expected to: Teach 12 credit hours/4 courses of American national government and Texas government each semester. Communicate and meet with students. Assist with departmental needs. Maintain a regular presence on campus Requirements Required Qualifications include: PhD in Political Science or closely related field (ABD considered with expected completion by August 17, 2026. Expertise in the field of American Politics. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness. Evidence of potential for strong scholarly research In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply: Commitment to undergraduate education. The ability to teach courses areas that would add to the Department offerings, such as public administration, public policy, research methods, social movements, or any additional subfield. Interest in collaborative research with colleagues and/or students Standard Requirements Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must adhere to University's core values: People-Centered, Community, Integrity, Visionary, and Connections, per the MSU Texas Values Journey. Personal cell phone usage may be required to complete position duties, including multi-function authentication requirements. Regular reliable attendance is required. This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check. Position is designated as a Responsible Employee as outlined by Title IX. May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
