Communication & Media Studies The Department of Communication and Media Studies at California State University San Marcos accepts applications on an on-going basis for our pool of part-time lecturers to teach our lower division and upper division courses, as well as GEO 102: General Education- Oral Communication.
Course Description:
Introduction to the form and content of communication.Includes:
the linguistic, psychological, and cultural bases of communication; various types of communication ranging from basic speech acts to forms of persuasion; the social and political significance of communication; and how communication operates within and across a wide range of social contexts. Students become actively acquainted with some of the potential proficiencies that may be brought into various social contexts. Requires active participation in classroom exercises and practicing public speaking. The department has two (2) Bachelor's degree programs: Communication and Media Studies. Review the courses on our website: https://www.csusm.edu/communication/ Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool ad will only be good for the current academic year. This pool will be closed effective May 31st. If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the new pool as it becomes available by June 15th.Minimum qualifications:
ABD in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field; Experience and demonstrated effectiveness with in-person classroom instruction and Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard; Per the California State University's Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.Preferred qualifications:
A doctorate in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field; Pertinent expertise to teach courses in our Communication/Media Studies programs Higher education teaching experience with minimum of 1 year as teacher of record pertinent to subject area Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service. Salary commensurate with degree level and experienceAnticipated Hiring Salary Range:
$5,507- $8,000 per full-time month The salary schedule information for the Lecturer
