Part Time Faculty - Communications Excelsior University - 2.5 Saint Petersburg, FL Job Details Part-time 23 hours ago Qualifications E-learning (training delivery method) Public speaking course instruction Online learning environment experience University teaching experience Online training platform teaching experience Online instruction Student-centered approaches (student motivation techniques) Remote training Full Job Description Excelsior University seeks experienced, student-centered instructors to join our instructional pool of part-time communications faculty. Applicants should clearly indicate their qualifications to teach both public speaking and interpersonal communications courses. Reporting to the Department Chair for General Education and Social Sciences, part-time faculty are assigned to course sections based on their qualifications, interest, performance, and course section availability. This is a hybrid (St. Petersburg, FL) and remote online part-time faculty position. Instructional faculty at Excelsior University teach online using pre-built course shells with common readings, activities, and assignments across all sections. Hybrid courses in St. Petersburg include some evening hours during the work week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties and responsibilities, but not limited to, are expected: Implementing courses as designed by the University. Bringing their own knowledge and expertise to bear on the subject matter. Engaging regularly and substantively with students via email, announcements, and online discussion boards. Providing timely, high-quality feedback on student work. Holding regular virtual office hours. Keeping the department chair apprised of any student or course issues. Following University policies. Completing University-required training and attending required pre-term meetings.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. A master's degree or PhD in Communications or a master's degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate credits in communications. Experience teaching communications (including public speaking) in an asynchronous online environment. Experience with the Canvas learning management system preferred. A student-centered teaching approach. A commitment to supporting the success of all students, including those underserved by traditional higher education. Compensation is provided at a rate of $1,000 per credit hour per course, with low-enrollment courses paid at a directed study rate. The salary range reflects the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting.
