Field Production Primary Function of Organizational Unit The Department of Communication and Media Studies at Winston-Salem State University focuses on the emerging digital forms of media in the 21st Century, with emphasis on human and social communication. Students will have the opportunity to increase and enhance global-intercultural awareness. Yes Appointment Length. 5 months Position Number AJC110 Requirements and Preferences Position required to work during periods of adverse weather or other emergencies No Minimum Experience/Education Master's Degree in communication and media studies (or a related field) from a regionally accredited college/university Two years or more of successful teaching experience in Communication and Media Studies at the undergraduate college level in a multicultural environment Normal Work Schedule M-F, various class times Department Required Skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal communication skills Demonstrated success in multimedia Ability to use various technologies & digital media applications to teach courses and engage students Ability to teach effectively using best practices and a variety of instructional methods Ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education Three years or more of teaching experience in Communication and Media Studies in a college/university environment Teaching experience in a culturally diverse environment Working knowledge of Canvas or similar learning management system Evidence of utilizing Adobe Suite applications to engage students in the learning process Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, innovation, and collaboration in working with university colleagues and professionals in the discipline Required License or Certification Valid US Driver's License No Commercial Driver's License Required No Physical Required No List any other medical/drug tests required Primary Responsibilities and Duties Primary Responsibilities and Duties Describe the specific job duties related to this competency Facilitate high quality, engaging instruction by teaching undergraduate communication and media studies courses for credit during day or evening hours Communicate effectively with students and monitor their academic progress through EAB and other student success management systems Foster student success and assist students in reaching their fullest academic, personal and professional potential Responsible for classroom management and other duties as assigned by the department chair Responsible for teaching, grading, and mentoring students Timely submission of midterm and final grades required Percentage Of Time Posting Details Posting Details Internal Posting Only No Position Type Temporary Time Limited Position Yes Appointment Length 1-2 Semesters Salary commensurate upon education and experience Open Date 04/21/2026 Close Date 05/21/2026 Open Until Filled NoSpecial Instructions Summary Please Note:
