Job Description

The Department of Arts & Humanities at Lorain County Community College is seeking applicants for the position of Communication Studies adjunct. Days and times may vary. Classes will be a combination of online and in-person platforms. The teaching load will primarily be for the basic Oral Communication course. Upon successful application the candidate may be considered for other Communication Studies classes as needed. Reporting to the Dean of Arts and Humanities and the Communication Studies Program Coordinator, the adjunct faculty will have a thorough understanding of public speaking, communication theory, small group communication, and interpersonal communication. Classes are located on the main campus in Elyria, OH. Responsibilities will include preparing and delivering lectures, grading student assignments and speeches; maintaining attendance records, completing course assessments for student learning outcomes, and submitting grades and other required documentation by specific deadlines; preparing materials such as syllabi and other course documents; availability to meet students outside of classroom hours; attending the annual convocation and communication faculty meetings in at the beginning of fall semester; using the on-line learning platform, Canvas, for grades and other course information; and complying with all school, division and departmental policies. The start date for this position is for fall term, August 24, 2026
